On-The-Ground Support

How You’re Supported

Throughout the journey, you’re fully supported on the ground.

A Safari Director travels with you from start to finish, making sure everything runs as it should.

Your driver-guide is with you throughout, handling daily movement and the overall experience.

For key moments like gorilla and chimp tracking, you’re joined by experienced rangers and local specialists.

Everything is managed in real time — so the journey flows smoothly.

Priority lodge treatment
Seamless coordination
All meals & drinks included
Laundry services handled
24/7 Ground support
AMREF Emergency evacuation

Partner Properties You’ll Experience

Along the journey, you’ll visit a selection of our partner lodges across Uganda.

These are the same properties your clients will stay in — not examples, not substitutes.

What You’ll Look At
  • Room quality and overall comfort
  • Service and how guests are handled
  • Location and access to key experiences
  • How each stay fits into the overall journey

You’ll see a mix of lodges and smaller properties — each one selected based on how well it delivers for your clients.

Why This Matters

When you return, you’re not guessing.

You know where your clients will stay — and what to expect.

A JOURNEY THAT GIVES BACK

YOUR PARTNERSHIP ALSO SUPPORTS SOMETHING MEANINGFUL.

During this FAM, you’ll be introduced to the Gideon Education Program — supporting children to stay in school within communities near key wildlife areas.

When children are unable to stay in school due to financial pressure, it can lead to limited opportunities — sometimes increasing pressure on the surrounding environment and wildlife.

Through every journey you confirm, part of that travel supports efforts that help keep children in school — creating alternative paths and reducing the risk of activities that can endanger wildlife, including poaching.

This is part of how we operate — not something added on.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU
  • The journeys you sell support both communities and conservation
  • You can confidently offer experiences that are responsibly managed
  • You give your clients a deeper story — without changing the experience

There is no maximum age — as long as guests are reasonably fit, the experience can be enjoyed at any age.

If you feel unwell on the day of tracking, you will not be permitted to participate, as primates are highly susceptible to human illnesses. Where possible, we work with park authorities to reschedule your tracking to the following day, subject to availability and your readiness to proceed. If this is not possible within your current itinerary, we can support deferring your permit to a future travel date (once), allowing you to return and complete the experience.
You will spend up to one hour with the gorillas or chimpanzees once they are located.
Gorilla tracking is limited to a maximum of 8 guests per group.
You are required to maintain a distance of approximately 10 meters (32 feet).
Yes. Tracking can take several hours and may involve walking through dense forest, uneven terrain, and steep areas. A reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
Light refreshments and water can be carried during the trek.
However, eating, drinking, and smoking are not permitted in close proximity to the gorillas, in order to protect their health and natural environment.
We recommend: Sturdy hiking shoes Long trousers and long sleeves Rain jacket Gloves Water and light snacks
Uganda can be visited year-round, with excellent tracking experiences in every season. There are two dry seasons (June–August and December–February), which typically offer easier trekking conditions. There are also two greener seasons (March–May and September–November). The earlier green season (March–May) generally sees heavier rainfall, while the later green season (late September–November) is often lighter, with more balanced conditions. Tracking takes place within tropical forest environments, where conditions can vary and occasional rain is possible at any time of year — even in the drier months. At the same time, it’s not uncommon to experience clear, beautiful conditions even during the greener seasons. A lightweight waterproof jacket is essential before entering the forest. Your journey is carefully planned around the best conditions at the time of travel.
Gorilla tracking takes place in tropical forest terrain, where conditions can be wet, steep, and uneven. Being well prepared ensures a comfortable experience. We recommend: • A lightweight waterproof jacket (rain is possible at any time) • Sturdy hiking boots with good grip and ankle support • Comfortable walking trousers, a long-sleeved top, and long socks • Gaiters — protective covers worn over your boots and lower legs — to help keep out mud, moisture, and vegetation • Light hiking gloves for support on steeper sections • A small waterproof backpack for essentials • Refillable water bottle and light energy snacks • Insect repellent • Biodegradable tissue or toilet paper • Hand sanitizer • A waterproof cover or bag to protect cameras and personal items Walking sticks are highly recommended for balance and support during the trek. If you do not bring your own, they are available at each park sector before the trek begins. Local porters can be arranged at the start of the trek for additional support. Gaiters can be brought personally or arranged locally through your guide team before the trek. Flash photography is not permitted. Guests are advised to be familiar with their camera settings in advance.

Long-sleeved shirts and long trousers are recommended to protect against thick vegetation, insects, and stinging plants in the forest. Lightweight, breathable fabrics are best due to the humid environment, and neutral colors (green, brown, or gray) are preferred. Avoid bright colors or camouflage. Layering is important, as mornings can be cool and temperatures rise during the trek. A moisture-wicking base layer with a light jacket or fleece works well.
Yes. Rain can occur at any time, even during the dry season. A lightweight waterproof jacket is essential, and a rain cover for your backpack is strongly recommended to protect personal items and equipment.
Sturdy, waterproof hiking boots with good ankle support are essential. Trails can be steep, muddy, and uneven, so proper footwear helps prevent slips, fatigue, and injury. Breaking in your boots before travel is strongly recommended.
Yes. Lightweight gloves are very helpful for grip and protection. They protect your hands from thorns, rough vegetation, and slippery surfaces during the trek.
A small daypack is recommended with: Water (1–2 liters) Light snacks Rain gear Sunscreen and insect repellent Packing light helps you move more comfortably through the forest.

Yes, this is recommended. Porters assist with carrying your bag and provide support on difficult terrain. This not only makes the trek easier but also supports local communities.
Avoid heavy or unnecessary items. Plastic bags, flash equipment, and strong perfumes are discouraged, as they can interfere with conservation rules and wildlife behavior.

Some activities are suitable for younger travelers, such as nature walks and cultural experiences. However, primate tracking has age restrictions, and itineraries are adjusted accordingly for families.
Yes. Uganda offers a wide range of experiences beyond primates, including wildlife safaris, boat cruises, mountain hiking, cultural visits, and nature walks. Your journey is designed to combine these seamlessly based on your interests.
Yes. Guided nature walks are available in several parks and offer a more immersive way to experience the landscape, wildlife, and birdlife.
